Storytelling 101: Find & Share Your Story
Tuesday, February 13, 7:30-9 a.m. (7:30-8 a.m. Networking / 8-9 a.m. Presentation)
Room 2-120 Molecular and Cellular Biology Building
Speaker: Ann Pflaum // University Historian, University Relations
As communicators, we're charged with identifying and sharing stories about our department, program, or college to help build our brand and expertise.
Join us for a conversation with University of Minnesota Historian Ann Pflaum, the university's resident storyteller-in-chief, who will draw on her experience to explain how to identify compelling stories and frame them effectively.
During this presentation, you'll learn:
- How to identify compelling stories for your target audience
- How to frame your story so it's relevant and persuasive
- The key components of an effective story structure
- Ways to connect your story to the university's overarching story and mission
This session will provide a great introduction to storytelling, which will be the focus of this year's UMCF Annual Conference, “Illuminate: Storytelling that Inspires” on June 7.
Light snacks and refreshments will be available.
Programs are free for members; $10 for non-members.
